jj dearborn, MSLIS
owner + librarian
JJ moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Boston to become a Librarian. After graduating from the graduate program at Simmons College, she worked as Digital Project Librarian for many years, digitizing the rare book collections at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, the Ernst Mayr Library at the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology, and the Harvard University Herbarium Libraries. Recently, she served as a Data Librarian for the City of Boston and the State of Massachusetts to help open-up public information that belongs to citizens.
At the Makers Guild she manages the website, client relations, marketing, procurement, bookkeeping, and on occasion will strip fireplaces, install insulation, and design interiors. She would like to learn to re-upholster furniture and is excited to grow the salvage and landscape design components of the business.
She holds a Masters of Science in Library and Information Science from Simmons College and graduated with honors from UCLA with a Bachelors in History.
